As the Content Marketing Lead for US East Marketing, your job will be closely tied to communications, public relations, and marketing to create hyper-local experiences and to train and connect small business distributors in a variety of groups. You will be responsible for working with various teams in Shopify, including corporate branding and communication, global marketing (content, demand gen, brand) and of course the local US East marketing team to connect the company’s communication pillars with the local content pillars for the east of the USA and our key markets. You play a critical role in determining how Shopify will approach content marketing strategy and execution, consistently raise the bar, and redefine the status quo in B2B marketing.
You lead and conduct content creation and publishing to reach our local audiences in various markets such as Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Miami and others and have a US-wide voice. This means that you have experience developing ideas in a variety of formats and executing them directly, including webinars, podcasts, long and short-form texts, and copies of advertisements and newsletters. You will also work closely with the Shopify teams mentioned above to leverage existing global content as appropriate and create hyperlocalized, community-centric content.
In this role you will be familiar with internet culture and social networks. You can analyze trends and be inspired by them to create an editorial schedule, manage it and rotate it if necessary. The role requires creativity to take the lead in content creation in addition to managing the strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Have an effective content marketing strategy and editorial plan in place to meet business goals
- Cross-functional in US East Marketing, work with integrated marketers and community managers to come up with ideas and new concepts
- Regular and ongoing measurement, reporting and optimization of the program
- Develop and manage the editorial calendar and organizational workflows with US East Marketing, Global Content Marketing and Corporate Brand & Comms
- Manage and sometimes run the production of articles, videos, newsletters, and photo shoots. At the same time, you ensure that this content is of high quality and effectively reflects the image of the Shopify brand in form and content
- Manage creative resources including freelancers, designers, writers, and other agency staff
Qualifications
- Expertise in a variety of content formats, including webinars, long and short form blog content, podcasts, ad copies, copies of email newsletters and content strategies, and social panels
- Ruthlessly cooperative and can be a unit across the US East Marketing team as well as other marketing groups in Shopify
- Experience the presentation of concepts and programs for global, corporate and leadership teams
- Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t be afraid to spin around if necessary
- Expert knowledge of how to use compelling storytelling to educate, engage, and convert through written and media-based content. A (near) perfect command of the language is required to create high quality content and protect Shopify’s image
- Understand the basic best practices of major social media channels, what content and approaches work in each one, and why
- An analytical and creative approach to work and problem solving
- The ability to seamlessly switch between seeing the vision and creating the strategy, owning the details and executing initiatives with minimal alignment
