NEWARK, NJ – Pillar College recently announced the appointment of Erica Brown Oliver as Vice President, Institutional Public Relations and Marketing. Oliver, who is in charge of monitoring the marketing, is now in charge of the institutional reach and further development. This department focuses on increasing the college’s public visibility and building and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of constituencies. This appointment is an integral part of the college’s ongoing effort to recruit seasoned and successful talent in education.
A passionate marketing professional, Oliver has 20 years of experience in a variety of industries including retail, publishing, travel, media and healthcare for companies such as Toys R Us International, Babies R Us, Northstar Travel Media, RWJBarnabas Health and CarePont Health. “Erica’s high-level strategic thinking in terms of positioning, messaging and awareness-raising through innovative engagement will provide Pillar College with the awareness it needs to support and implement our new vision, the Windmills of Change,” said Dr. Rupert A. Hayles Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Pillar College, “Erica will be a core member of the President’s Cabinet tasked with building a solid and reliable revenue base, and I look forward to working with her.” new initiatives to build Pillar College. “
Live Talks With Pillar, a program featuring various college professors, alumni, and community leaders, is an initiative that Oliver designed and built to help the college raise awareness and connect with prospective students. She has worked on leveraging and maximizing social media and digital strategies, along with increased PR efforts to reach out to potential students. In her new role, she plans to support and support alumni, current and potential donors.
Oliver is the author of When I Grow Up … Just Imagine., An active member of several nonprofits and a recipient of the West Orange Human Relations Commission – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Love of Service”. Oliver earned her BA in Economics from Rutgers University, a mini MBA in Social Media Marketing from Executive Education at Rutgers Business School, and is pursuing her MBA from William Woods University.
